The Role of Social Media Engagement in Enhancing Economic Sustainability: A Systematic Review of the Fashion Industry
(International Journal of Intellectual Discourse Volume 9, Issue 2., 2026-06) Adesanya, Oluwatoyin Deborah; Sanyaolu, Florence
In recent years, the relationship between social media engagement and economic sustainability has grown into one of the most consequential intersections shaping how the fashion industry operates and evolves. This systematic review draws on peer-reviewed literature published between 2022 and 2026 to investigate the pathways through which social media engagement translates into meaningful economic sustainability outcomes across the global fashion industry, with particular emphasis on evidence from Nigeria and comparably positioned developing economies. Grounded in a corpus of 46 primary sources assembled through structured database searches and refined using the PRISMA screening protocol, the review surfaces five interconnected thematic areas. These concern the role of content quality and posting frequency in cultivating consumer trust and brand loyalty; how platform-specific strategies operate with varying effectiveness across different demographic groups; the function of influencer collaborations as mediators of economic sustainability; the growing contribution of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and blockchain in enabling sustainable fashion practice; and the significance of customer experience management in connecting online engagement to tangible offline economic outcomes. The review also identifies meaningful gaps in the existing scholarship, most notably the limited number of longitudinal studies conducted within the Nigerian context and the sparse direct attention paid to how parasocial relationships shape sustainable purchasing behaviour. Taken together, the findings make a compelling case that thoughtfully and strategically executed social media engagement is far more than a conventional promotional instrument. It operates, rather, as a structural foundation upon which durable economic sustainability across fashion value chains can be genuinely built. The paper closes by proposing concrete directions for researchers, industry practitioners, and policymakers who seek to harness the power of digital engagement in advancing sustainable economic outcomes for the fashion sector.

Indigenous Apprenticeship Systems as Mechanisms for Reducing Financial Inequality in Women-Owned SMEs in West Africa: A Systematic Literature Review
(Abuja Journal of Business and Management, 4(3), 2026) Onayemi, Oluwakemi O.; MICHAEL, ROSE OFEM; Adeniji, Chinyere G.; Adesanya, Oluwatoyin Deborah; Amoo, Adebola T.
This systematic literature review develops an integrative framework that synthesises Gender Empowerment Theory, the Resource-Based View (RBV), and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem perspectives to explain how indigenous apprenticeship systems in West Africa serve as mechanisms to reduce financial inequality in women-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Following a PRISMA-compliant protocol that combines bibliometric and qualitative thematic analyses, the review synthesises 42 peer-reviewed articles retrieved from Scopus (2010–2026). Indigenous apprenticeship delivers a tripartite resource endowment—competency transfer, start-up capital, and network inscription—that formal financial and vocational institutions cannot replicate at equivalent cost, cultural legitimacy, or relational depth. However, patrilineal norms structurally bar most women from completing the full apprenticeship sequence, compounding discrimination in formal finance to produce a dual exclusion that single-domain interventions cannot resolve. Financial literacy emerges as the critical mediator between apprenticeship engagement and formal credit access, transmitted mainly through indigenous trade networks rather than formal schooling. Digital tools amplify rather than replace indigenous network capital, with the strongest empowerment effects among women who already have robust pre-existing networks. The review proposes a four-part policy architecture—gender-targeted post-apprenticeship capital grants, embedded financial-literacy modules, female master-mentorship programmes, and mobile-money linkage of graduation capital—that reforms rather than displaces indigenous institutions, advancing organisation studies by theorising informal institutions as simultaneous producers and gendered distributors of financial-inclusion outcomes.

Artificial intelligence and automation as drivers of market expansion in Nigeria’s fintech sector: A systematic review
(International Journal of Intellectual Discourse (IJID) Volume 9, Issue 1., 2026-03) Adesanya, Oluwatoyin Deborah; OWOLOYE, BRIGHT ODUNAYO; Obiukwu, Ferdinand
This study systematically reviews the literature on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in expanding the market reach of fintech services in Nigeria. Guided by PRISMA 2020, the review covered literature published between 2015 and 2026 and used keyword combinations built around “artificial intelligence”, “automation”, “fintech”, “Nigeria”, “Sub-Saharan Africa”, “market expansion”, “trust”, “risk management”, and “financial inclusion”. A targeted retrieval strategy was applied across Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis Online, and official publications of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the World Bank, OECD, and the Financial Stability Board. Eighty records were captured; 37 duplicate or alternate records were removed; 43 unique records were screened by title and abstract; 19 full texts were assessed for eligibility; and 16 records met the inclusion criteria for the final synthesis. The review shows that AI and automation support market expansion through three interrelated pathways: operational efficiency and decision quality, stronger transparency and risk management, and improved inclusion when supported by infrastructure, literacy, and governance. Results from individual studies indicate that fraud detection, credit scoring, onboarding automation, and compliance support can strengthen risk management and service reliability, while trust, privacy, and security concerns continue to shape adoption. The study concludes that AI and automation are best understood as enablers of trustworthy scale rather than automatic drivers of growth. Their market effects depend on governance quality, user confidence, and supportive digital infrastructure.

THE INFLUENCE OF CONSUMER BEHAVIOR ANALYTICS ON PROMOTING INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH: ALIGNING WITH SDG 9
(Centrum Badań i Innowacji Pro-Akademia, 2025) Kehinde, Oladele; Kehinde, Segun; Falola, Hezekiah O.; Deborah, Aka; Adebayo, Olufunke; Adesanya, Oluwatoyin Deborah; Kehinde, Kemi; Kehinde, Tola
This study investigates the role of consumer behavior analytics in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9). Using a mixed-methods approach that combines qualitative insights with quantitative analysis of data from 500 Businesses across diverse economic sectors, the research explores how advanced analytics tools such as predictive modeling, sentiment analysis, and purchasing trend evaluations can influence business practices, foster innovation, and drive sustainable industrialization. Correlation and regression analyses demonstrate significant relationships between the use of consumer behavior insights and the adoption of sustainable business strategies, including eco-friendly production methods and equitable labor practices. Findings reveal that organizations leveraging consumer analytics not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to building resilient infrastructure and fostering inclusive industrial growth. This research provides actionable insights for business leaders and policymakers seeking to leverage consumer behavior analytics as a strategic tool for achieving inclusive and sustainable economic progress.
