The experience of failures in buildings during construction or service life is one thing that constructors ultimately want to avoid. However, apart from other factors, this can only be possible by ascertaining the structural integrity of sensitive materials used for construction. In this article, the structural integrity assessment of bamboo for construction purposes is considered. It is a norm that different materials perform differently under certain loading and environmental conditions. In the case of bamboo, it possesses excellent mechanical properties compared with some other commonly used construction materials. However, the use of bamboo for construction needs to be standardized. Bamboo is deficient in resisting attacks from termites, beetles, and fungus; therefore, there is a need to adequately treat bamboo when it is to be used in critical structural systems.
