| dc.description | It has always been of great importance to understand how buildings can be designed to adapt in light of the changing parameters of the rapidly evolving society to ensure its sustainability and a long-lasting effect of interaction among users within the spaces. Considering this, the aim of this study is to investigate the significance of spatial organization and flexibility to enhance social interaction, with a view to creating a design proposal for an art museum building in the city of Lagos designed with the main purpose of tourism and sight-seeing and enhancing social interaction among its users. To achieve this, the study used a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data. The structured questionnaire was employed to collect quantitative data, while qualitative data was obtained through meticulous observations and evaluation of specific case studies. The results of the study indicated the extent to which the case studies adopted social interaction design strategies and also assessed the various spatial patterns used. Finally, in sight of all the findings, a design proposal was submitted for an art museum building that incorporates adaptability of space to promote social interaction amongst its users. | |
