Recently a rule changed that altered the way how small business owners can seek investment. The new rule permits private companies to freely advertise that they are looking for investment, known as ‘general solicitation’. Being part of the Jobs Act, it plans to make it trouble-free for smaller companies to contact new investors and further raise capital. In the past, startup ventures that desired to raise funds couldn't publicly declare they were looking for investment. Even they couldn't talk about it at speaking engagements, send a publication or tweet about it. Now all things have changed.
